Grand History

Here at Grand Homes we love what we do! We are celebrating over 30 years of building extraordinary homes and creating an extraordinary experience for our homeowners.

Grand Homes was established in 1986 by its founder Stephen H. Brooks. He felt there was a need in the Dallas housing market for a company comprised of hardworking people dedicated to building quality homes. Homes that featured designs consumers wanted.

The rapid growth and immediate success of Grand Homes can be attributed to the creativity and dedication of Stephen Brooks. With over 30 years experience in the home building industry, he has been a key force in setting architectural trends. Grand Homes has sculpted some of the most popular features in the Dallas market such as front porches, stone accented exteriors, and second story verandahs.

Grand Homes continues to thrive in the Dallas market with innovative, award-winning architectural designs. Grand builds over 400 semi-custom homes a year in 30 neighborhoods around the metroplex.

Grand Homes is the proud recipient of the Consumers' Choice Award ... AGAIN

For eleven years, since 2007, Grand Homes has won the prestigious Consumers' Choice Award. The Consumers' Choice AwardTM (CCA) was established in 1986 to identify and promote business excellence. The CCA program each year commissions a survey in which consumers are asked to identify their favorite businesses. Respondents are asked to consider criteria such as Value, Professionalism, and Service when making their choice. Click here to learn more about CCA.

The Consumers' Choice AwardTM is an initiative of Consumers' Choice Institute which has retained a leading independent research firm to conduct surveys in major Canadian and U.S. cities. It is unique in North America as the winners are determined by consumers and not by a panel of judges. It covers a broad range of categories of interest to both the public and business communities. Its purpose is to publicly identify those establishments that have been voted by consumers as being their choice for excellence. The Consumers' Choice AwardTM is a most prestigious tribute to businesses that serve their clients well. The program is encouraged by all levels of government and by business leaders.

Mr. Stephen Brooks, CEO of Grand Homes, accepts The 2010 Consumers' Choice Award at the Gala held Friday, June 2 at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas. Jody Dean from KLUV Radio and Maria Arita from CBS11 emceed the event.

Grand Homes is proud to have won America's Best Builder, awarded by BUILDER magazine.... TWICE!

The prestigious award is judged by a panel of industry experts for overall achievement and excellence in all facets of home building, including finance and operations, design and construction, customer service and quality, community service and marketing.

"Most builders excel in just one discipline, be it customer service, great design, construction expertise, or financial acumen," said Denise Dersin, editor in chief of BUILDER magazine, the leading magazine of the home building industry. "But our America's Best Builder winners manage to do it all. That is an amazing achievement, and even more so during these difficult times." Grand Homes is the 2010 Builder of the Year

At the historic Majestic Theatre in Dallas, Grand Homes was recognized for the second year in a row, as Builder of the Year by the Greater Dallas Home Builder’s Association.

Mar'Sue Haffner, VP of Sales and Marketing and Stephen Brooks, CEOThe McSAM Awards (Maximum Creativity in Sales and Marketing) were created in 1979 by the Sales and Marketing Council of the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas in recognition of Sales and Marketing excellence. The prestigious McSAM Award is given to Builders, Developers and Associates who have made a significant and creative contribution in residential marketing through specific achievements during the year.

Grand Homes took home eight other awards that night, including five awards for Design and Architectural Design, Best Magazine Advertisement and Best Social Media Program.

In 2009, Grand Homes was Builder of the Year and other awards were given to our Design Studio, design for the model at the Enclave of Emerald Forest and to Dawn Cawood for Marketing Professional of the Year.

Since 1991, Grand Homes has won numerous architectural and interior design awards from the Dallas Home and Apartment Builder's Association. In 1996, the National Association of Homebuilders and Builder Magazine named Grand Homes the Best Builder in America. In that same year, Stephen H. Brooks was awarded the prestigious Lee Evans Award for excellence in Business Management.

HOME magazine appointed Grand Homes to build the American House of the Year, which served as a show home for the International Homebuilder’s Convention in 1998. Grand has been honored with numerous awards and recognitions such as the Pacesetters Award from the Dallas Business Journal and is continually listed in the top 100 builders by Builder Magazine.
